MEST1 Section B: A field in England


Summery of article: 
The article displays how the money is distributed as well as the film. It informs the audience on how the film had to work within the low budget they had been given. The distributors challenge for a film launch from all across a wide variety of platforms, such as VOD, free broadcast TV, DVD, Blu Ray and cinema. The magazine article also educates us on what went on from after the release of the film. The film at the time was the one of the most trending on twitter in the UK. Moreover the film had made £21,399 over the weekend fro when it was released, and had 257,000 viewers throughout its opening week.
  1. How was A Field In England’s release different to typical film releases? it was released across all plat form on the same day.
  2. What are the advantages to releasing the film across all platforms on the same day? Its well anticipated and is classified as an event. This intrigues more people, as it generates suspense 
  3. What are the disadvantages to this approach? people might miss the the specific day. Less distribution of the film.
  4. What target audience would A Field In England be aimed at? Demographics and Psychographics.
  5. Do you think all films in future will be released across all platforms simultaneously in future? The turn out was great, and it is quite effective in terms of drawing in audiences and creating suspense,  so I do think other films might take it under consideration however also may want to keep it how it is, nonetheless it would be a something new to experience.
