Status update

You need to post regular status updates to your blog throughout your MEST2 coursework to make sure you're keeping up with the work and documenting tutorial feedback. Your first status update needs to include the following:

1) Your finalised group

Izzah, Sophia and Tina.

2) Your initial plans for your new TV programme that meets the MEST2 brief:


Drug dealing with a sexuality twist.Homosexual drug dealers. A young teenage boy becomes a drug dealer within a group of notorious boys. He forms a close attachment bond with them however, these boys do not know he is a homosexual. During a car journey the young teenager male touches one of the boys legs in a sexual way which causes the group to beat him up.

3) A link to your research blogpost - the five TV/film opening scenes you have analysed that will help inform your own ideas and production work.


4) Tutorial feedback.

  1. Research more texts similar to your narrative/genre.
  2. Research more E4/BBC3 texts.
  3. Think more about the narratives - main arc, specifies of your episode/opening.
  4. Ways you can subvert the traditional when drama.
  5. Characters - get a clear sense of the main characters and their roles (Propp)
Russell Brand documentary on drugs and influence, with a different perspective. Howver the part we need to focus on in the children being brought up in this sort of atmosphere.

Include an alternative stereotype of women and further a gay drug dealer, this way we could subvert the traditional drama.
